August 2019 update

Summer Update

This summer has flown by, I can’t believe it’s almost over.  It was a very different summer as Tammy and I took most of the summer and donated our time to a Bible camp in Idaho (ALACCA).  We loaded up the van with our three remaining children, a dog and a college student (Logan Farrell), and drove 31 hours across the country to Harpster, Idaho,  population 50.  Idaho county (where Harpster is) has 2 stop lights.  Those stop lights are on a road 1/2 hour from the camp.  Take a guess as to why they have two stoplights in the county?  The only reason they have them is for Driver’s Education  to take the drivers test.  No Joke!  We were in the middle of nowhere.  Our main job was helping young people learn to give their testimony and share the Gospel.

After that we mentored them throughout the summer helping them overcome interpersonal conflicts or just pouring into their lives, and helping them grow spiritually.  Much of our time was spent praying for them or listening to the Lord for these interns. There were 11 college interns that we were responsible for along with 11 high school interns, one for each college student to mentor and a few extras making about 25.  It was an amazing place where we encountered the beauty of God’s creation at every turn we took.

The Clearwater River flows through camp! But we were too busy much of the time to explore. We had Saturday and Sunday afternoons free, and Mike and Timmie, the camp directors, did a great job of showing us all great experiences! One of the benefits of being at the camp is that our kids were able to be campers, which they thoroughly enjoyed.  Zeke, Sarah, and Grace also loved the freedom of being able to roam free. We had no cell service while we were there, so we were not chained to our phones, It was really kind of awesome to be free of it for two months.

All in all, it was a really great experience for the family. My only real complaint was that I missed my own comfy bed and it was hard on my back to sleep in the three different beds that I had at camp, not to mention having to camp out several times. We  missed our kids and grandkids, but knew it was only 8 weeks! We had opportunities to pray for several people at the local church we attended for the summer, and saw several people healed.  In fact, the first Sunday I was in church, God was speaking to me the whole service about going up front and praying for people  after the service. I tried arguing with God for a while, saying what if they don’t have a prayer time afterwards, what if they aren’t comfortable allowing strangers to pray with people in their congregation… But in the end God’s voice wins and I went up to the front after the service.

Turns out there was a prayer time at the end of the service, and they were delighted that I came forward to pray.  Only one person came forward and he was there visiting his aunt.  God allowed me to minister to his hurting soul, and then God allowed me to pray for his 12-year shoulder injury, which He promptly healed.  It was so amazing to see God redeem a young man and then heal him.  BOOM!!!!  God is so good. We are already missing the people and place of ALACCA!

Less than a week after we returned from Idaho, Toby Jones came from England to spend part of his gap year here with us as an intern for Kingdom Partners Global.  Toby is the son of Trefor and Jade Jones.  I used to work with Trefor in YFC when he lived in America, and we have done several youth missions trips together.  He is one of my very best friends.  Toby will be living with us and helping out with Youth Ministry in Kenosha and learning about how full time ministry works.  He is very excited to be back in America as he lived here for five years before moving back to England 8 years ago.  I hope we can overcome the language barrier. :)  The kids are excited to have another brother in the house.

I’ll be back from Idaho less than 2 weeks when it’s off to South Africa for nine days.  Toby, and several people from Immanuel Church in Kenosha, and I will be traveling to SA to work with an organization called Go Live Dare, run by my friend Donavan Olding.  We will be using material from Dare 2 Share, run by another friend of mine Greg Stier. Dare 2 Share exists to equip youth leaders and students with the tools they need to be Gospel-Advancing people.

We will be training and equipping  young people and youth leaders in Cape Town, South Africa, how to share their faith.   It will be my third trip to South Africa.  Toby is very excited since he has never been on a missions trip before.

Thanks for all the Prayers and support.

March 2019 update

Trip to England

Elk Meatballs

2019 has been a busy time for me with Kingdom Partners Global.  February saw my annual trip with local pastors to the Naturally Supernatural Conference in Watford, England.  We flew through Sweden because we  were able to get ridiculously cheap tickets.  It was very exciting since I’m half Swedish and I have always wanted to see Sweden, although I don’t think one day in Stockholm counts for seeing a country.  (If you get a chance to go, try the elk meatballs, they were amazing).

This was my sixth trip to the event and this year I was accompanied by five other pastors as they went to be refreshed and hear from God.  This is always an amazing time for building unity for the Church of Kenosha, and hearing from the Lord.  God spoke to us clearly for our city through a man named Wayne Drain whose friendship and gifting I have come to value.  What we heard from the Lord from Wayne was very instrumental for Kenosha churches going forward in unity in the coming years.  We were also joined by my son John for the duration of the event! It’s hard to believe that he has been gone from the states for 6 years.  After the conference, I was able to travel to Summerset  and spend a day and half with John & Marie and Koral & Divan.  It’s so great that they only live 20 mins from each other.  I was able to attend church in Wellington with my kids.  The Wellington Church was having a joint meeting with two other churches in town, so it was amazing to be there for a unity service which I am passionate about.  I was able to bring a Word from the Lord to the meeting  and encourage several people.

On to Russia

After our time in England, four of us journeyed on to Saint Petersburg, Russia to work with and encourage the Evangelical Church there.  Pastor Andy from Immanuel Church and Pastor Kirby from Acts Church spent the days teaching evangelism to Bible school students.  In the Evenings we spent our time at drug rehab centers run by the church.  We gave testimonies,  Tom Dryer (from Immanuel) led worship along with our translator Dennis.  Then we spent hours praying over people.  We prayed for physical healing, release from addictions, filling of the Holy Spirit, and much more.  It was amazing to see the things that God was doing and so awesome to be used by Him as His hands and Voice.  One evening we spent 5 hours straight praying over people, they were so hungry for God.  Tom actually played his guitar the whole time, (surprised his fingers didn’t fall off :).  I prayed over one young lady that night and she cried for 3 hours.   She later asked why she was crying and not falling over like other people.  Pastor Kirby was able to take that opportunity to teach very quickly about the Holy Spirit, as I continued to pray over others.  Her next question totally took me off guard, she asked, “How come I can’t say bad words (curse) right now?”  I wanted to laugh so hard, but I gently explained that the Holy Spirit was working on her and He doesn’t mix with sin, it was an amazing moment.  After 5 hours of this, we were completely exhausted.  But our host thought that 1 am would be a great time for coffee and cookies, so we sat down, ate, drank, and discussed the evening.  We then drove back to where we were staying and tried to get some sleep at 2:00 am.  Problem was we could not sleep because we were all so excited about the amazing way God was moving that evening.

Borshch (Beetroot soup)

The rest of our time was filled with meeting local pastors and leaders and encouraging and praying for them.  One of my favorite moments came just a half hour before we were to leave for the airport and return home.  Our interpreter came to us and said the area Bishop (a former soviet submarine captain) who oversaw the local churches, Bible School and the rehab centers wanted to meet with us.  When he got there he said, “I’ve heard about what you have been doing and I need you to pray for me.”  It was so crazy that after hearing how much God was moving on the people under him that he would want us four Americans, his former natural enemies but now brothers in Christ, to pray that God’s power would move on him.  It was a very great moment for us to be a part of, thank You, Jesus.  We were also able to spend a few hours in the heart of Saint Petersburg seeing a few sights and having a meal that was amazing.  Not all the meals were great, and I struggled a bit eating them but persevered for the sake of the Gospel and to not offend our hosts.  The Borshch (Russian Beetroot soup) and the Pickle soup zupa orgorkowa light on the chicken heavy on the pickles (which is actually a Polish dish) were the hardest.  But despite the soup, it was a great trip and I would love to go again.

Youth Leaders praying before The Gathering

We Just had another Gathering for our youth (a Prayer and Worship night for Kenosha area Churches).  We had 152 people attend.  But what made this Gathering special was the commitment we made to get youth leaders from various Churches and Youth for Christ together before hand to build relationships and pray together for our students that evening and each other.  We had 26 leaders gather from 3:00-4:30 and it really set the tone for the evening.

On the Family Front:

Kaylee is almost four months old now.

Kaylee is almost four months old now.

Things are going great! Kaylee is growing like mad! She is almost out of 6-9 month outfits, a big task for someone who is not even 4 months old yet.  One of the side perks of having Kaylee around is that Koral came to visit in Feb. to meet her niece and John and Marie came in March.  Its so nice having the older kids in town.  It’s a lot of joy and sadness all bundled together.  We keep having to tell ourselves that we raised them to send them off to do the Lord's will.  It doesn’t cover all the pain of the moment but in the big picture we know that we are doing the right thing and wouldn’t want it any other way.  Koral has only been gone for 7 months and it’s mind blowing to think John has been living in England for 6 years.  Tammy’s favorite part of the day when she isn’t watching Kaylee and Camden, is when she gets her Daily Kaylee Pic - The picture subscription service she signed up for (of which she is the only member) to get a picture each day of Kaylee. ;)

Thanks for all the Prayers and support.
