Feeding Africa : Meeting Needs for Food and Water

Thank you so VERY much to each one of you who has prayed for these precious families in Kenya and have given money so that we can continue to supply food to help these mamas and their children through this COVID-19 social distancing! We have enough so far to feed the entire village of 50 families (all of whom are single mamas with 4-10 children each, totaling nearly 400 children) for 3 weeks!

Nifah has kept me updated daily on how things are going in her village. I will post pictures as I am given permission to, but I want you all to know that the smiles on their adorable faces melt my heart! During our communications, I discovered that none of these families have running water and need to go to a community place to purchase all of the water they need for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, clothes, bodies, etc., and that some of the families were unable to get water. I asked how much it would cost each day for a family to have water and it comes to about $3/week for water. Due to the generosity of so many of you, we sent enough money for all 50 families to have water for a week! The people in charge of the water were so stunned that they gave Nifah a key to the water tank and said that for 7 days, anyone in the village who needs water, can go get water through Nifah, the Key Holder! This is a HUGE blessing! The ladies are finding as many containers as they can to fill to the brim! God’s favor is on these families and we have asked God to multiply the food like the loaves and fishes!

May God richly bless each one of you for your generosity! This village of mamas have asked me to thank each one of you for caring for them and helping them to feed their precious children!

Feeding Africa

Shalom, Precious Friends and Family!

I feel led by God to share this story. COVID-19 and the Stay-at-Home mandate have surely changed things for everyone, but probably more than most of us in the USA can fathom. Many third-world countries literally live hand-to-mouth...working odd jobs all day and stopping by the shops on the way home for food for their children. My story comes from Kenya, East Africa, but it could just as well have come from India, Italy, Liberia, and so many other places.

My friend, Okonji, and her family who live in Kenya.

My friend, Okonji, and her family who live in Kenya.

While checking in with some friends in Kenya, one young lady told me that her "family is struggling, but we know God will Provide and see us through." Having just studied James in Bible Study Fellowship about loving our neighbor as ourself and being a "doer of the Word, not merely a hearer," I kept asking questions and I learned that she lives in the second largest slum in Kenya with her Mum and 6 siblings. (We had met this friend the summer of 2016 while working at an orphanage, but we had never been to her home.) I asked how much it would cost to feed her family (8 people) for one day...$5.60. (Roger converted KSH to USD)!! I asked Roger if we could use a portion of our money from President Trump to feed this family for a month and he said, "YES!" She sent me pics of her family and my heart was full (so I thought)!

We continued to message back and forth and I asked how her neighbors are doing to which she replied, "Well, some are doing well because we shared our Provision so 10 families now have food for a week!" This precious family was given 30 days of food and chose to share with the 10 most needy families around them and only have one-week's worth of food for themselves! I was blown away by this PURE FAITH! I had given out of our much and they had given out of their poverty! It humbled me and broke me, and I WEPT! Then I shared the story with my Bible Study ladies and before I knew it, we had enough money to buy food to feed 20 families for over a week! Then I thought surely my heart is full! Yet, there are 600,000 people in this slum! There are 50 families in this friend's direct realm of influence. Everyone is low on food and cannot make a full meal for everyone to be full afterwards. You don't have to look far to find desperate need. This is a plea to search deeply into your hearts and ask God how each of us can help His Beloved Children!

Most of you also received some money from President Trump's economy stimulus plan...please consider asking God how He would want you to use it!! This is not a plea for money for us personally, or even for the people that God has given us a heart for (though if the Holy Spirit leads you to give for them, you may private message me), this is a plea to give, and give some more, whether it goes to Africa, India, Madagascar or the people next door, please, let's give out of our abundance, generously! We cannot out-give God! We just may be the vessels God is choosing to use to save a village of people!
