July 2022 Update: One Million!

Feeding Africa

Two of the children in our feeding program outside of Nairobi, Kenya

This is a FANTASTIC time for an update as we have “served up” a Million meals in our feeding Africa program! That is so wild to me that God would be using you and us to help sustain these people in such an amazing way!

1 Corinthians 1:27 Says “Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.”

A lady in our feeding program preparing a meal

It took 2 years and 24 days to achieve, but we have finally reached that ONE MILLION milestone on May 14, 2022.  As of June 25th we have invested $116,145 and provided 1,046,960 meals! We never could have done this without people like you investing your money and prayers into this project!  We just want to say thank you so much for helping to feed these wonderful families.

We have told God that we would continue this feeding program as long as there is a need and/or as long as He provides the money. If you feel led to give, please click the Donate to Feeding Africa button at the bottom of this update, and help to be the hands and feet of Jesus to these hungry families. With the rising costs of food, fuel, and transportation these past few months, it is getting harder and harder on these families to provide food for everyone. Your $10 donation…the cost of one fast-food meal…can feed a person in Africa for a month. Your gift is appreciated so very much!  Remember 100% of money given for Feeding Africa goes to feeding people in Africa…we keep none of it.

SIFA BWANA - (means “Praise the Lord” in Swahili)

As we strive to continue to meet these food needs, we have been praying about ways to make this program more self-sustainable. We have begun to pursue one of these avenues. Our friends who run the feeding program in Kijabe, Kenya, have a Shamba (farm/garden plot) from which they have used the produce to supplement the rice, beans, flour, oil, etc. they are able to hand out to the families in that feeding program. However, the feeding program in Nairobi has nothing like that.

The man who heard about our feeding program and wanted to help by selling this land at half the value and allowing Nifah to begin farming it before it’s even all paid for.

Several months ago, a gentleman approached Nifah and offered to sell her a plot of land for a greatly reduced price because of the ministry she was doing. This would provide an area where chickens would be able to be raised and vegetables grown to supplement the program.  Although the price to Nifah is unattainable, it seemed very reasonable and obtainable to us.  The cost for the land is $9,000.00 (it is worth twice that), and the Landlord said that Nifah could begin using the land after she paid the $4,000.00 down payment.

The land outside of Nairobi we are helping Nifah purchase to build a farm

Tammy and I felt the Lord’s leading in this, and we have made the $4,000.00 down-payment from our tax return. There is another $2,500.00 needed for fencing and structures to get this land to a place where it can be used. We are trusting God that He will provide the rest; that He will speak to some of you about the remaining $7,500.00. There is also still a need for a structure at the farm in Kijabe…Nairobi and Kijabe are an hour’s drive from each other.

James 4:2b-3 says “Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.”

So we are asking in faith, please join us in asking God for this provision for His children in Kenya! It’s amazing how much further our money goes in Kenya, and how much more of an impact we can have there. So please ask God if He would have you give toward this project. If so please contact me directly at roger@kingdompg.org, and let me know you are interested in the, “Sifa Bwana” project.

TRAVEL

Youth Group at Living Light Church in Taunton

May 5-19 had me back in the skies again. It was my first international flight since the outbreak of the pandemic. I was scheduled to attend the “Naturally Supernatural” conference in Watford, England, with several other pastors. Since I was planning on going to the conference, a friend of mine asked me if I would also be willing to come speak in the Living Light Church he is an Elder in, which is also the church that our son John went over to England to help plant (get started), and I joyfully said, “YES!” Then John also asked me to speak to the youth group about how I had smuggled Bibles and learned to trust God. So I said yes to that as well.

Time with family in England (from left: Maria, John, Roger, Koral, & Divan)

I was very much looking forward to seeing my grandson Elijah, (John and Marie’s baby) who had already turned 1, and I had not yet met. Of course, also the joy of seeing John & Marie and Divan & Koral. So when the conference fell through, Tammy and I felt that I should still go. I was able to do all those things and more. I was able to be used by God to bring words of encouragement and healing to many.  I was also able to meet with and pray with a group of pastors from various churches across Wellington, very similar to Kenosha Allies. The two weeks were crammed with Family and Ministry…it was truly amazing! I also caught up on my Fish & Chips quota. Maybe I should just say it was two weeks of Family, Faith and Fish (and Chips) if this were a three point sermon!

One Voice Church

This is the new location our church, One Voice, is meeting at

The new Church plant in Kenosha that we are now attending is doing well. We are looking to install Elders soon which is very exiting in terms of moving forward and being able to do more ministry in the community. We have moved into a new location, so we now have a bigger meeting room and space allowing us room to do children's ministry and more. Attendance has been up with 99 for Easter and 92 the week after. The higher numbers have created a wonderful atmosphere for worshiping on a Sunday morning which has been great.

I, Roger, gave the sermon on a Sunday morning a few weeks ago at One Voice. I shared a bit of our testimony of God’s provision in our lives and what we’re doing in our Feeding Africa program. I titled the sermon “Roger the Idiot” because God often uses the foolish things of the world to accomplish his purposes and I have definitely been a fool God has used. Click play on the video to watch it!

All in all, the work is pressing forward, and we are excited for the impact One Voice is going to have on the city of Kenosha.

FAMILY

Our home for the past almost 20 years which we have to move out of by November 30th of 2022.

Things are getting shaken up at the Myers’ house. We received a letter from a lawyer telling us we need to be out of the house that we have lived in for almost 20 years by November 30th. This current home has been such a blessing, and we praise God for providing us with an amazing place to stay that has allowed us to do ministry in Kenosha all these years! Our landlord, Gordon, has been a very kind and generous man! He is now with the Lord and the home will be sold for more than we can afford.

As most of you know, this is the absolute worse time to try to purchase a house, not to mention the fact that we have never owned a home (every home except for this one came with the ministry we were doing at the time), so we have no equity to apply towards a down payment. Once again, we are trusting for God’s provision to take care of us. Please be praying for Favor as we look for a new place to live.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

It has been awhile since we have done an updated Newsletter, and for that we apologize! Due to that, This one seems chock full of needs for money which sound very overwhelming! We know that God sorts these things out in His creative ways, and yet He asks us to get the word out! Some have asked why we gave $4,000 to buy land in Africa when we need thousands to put down on a home in America. Good question!

First, we did not know we were going to be asked to leave this home when we made that decision, and yet, to be honest, we would still have done it because we have learned the hard way that obedience to God ALWAYS goes much better for everyone involved than disobedience does! Second, we have also learned that we cannot out-give God! So here we are prayerfully asking if any of you out there have felt God’s nudge to give towards any of these needs…Thank you richly!

November 2021 Update

Feeding Africa

Hey, guys and gals, I just wanted to get an update out on the Feeding Africa Program before the snow begins to fall and the temperatures begin to plummet here while our brothers and sisters in the area of Kenya benefiting from this program experience their hottest months being on the opposite side of the equator from where we are.

As of October 30th, we have served 808,960 meals. Wow! Well over 3/4 million meals served, and approximately 1,000 people kept from starvation, praise God! Thank you to those who have given regularly…monthly, quarterly and yearly…as well as those of you who have given one-time gifts to support the feeding of those who are in need. We are blessed and honored to walk this path with you.

Reports continue to roll in of the recipients’ gratefulness, and we just want to pass the Thank You’s on to you, so THANK YOU (in Kiswahili, they would say, “Asante Sana”)! They tell us that every week they have to turn people and families away who have heard of the program and wish to join in.

We currently have a negative balance in the Feeding Africa program, but we have been able to cover it with other Kingdom Partners Global (KPG) monies. If the Lord is tugging at your heart to help support these needy moms and their children, please click the Donate To Feeding Africa link at the bottom of this update. You can either give a one-time gift or set up monthly giving.  $7 feeds a person for a month, and $50 can feed a family for a month. 100% of all that is given for the Feeding Africa program goes to feeding, we keep nothing. Would you please consider asking God if He would have you invest in these lives?

I also want to say again that since the early part of 2021, we have cut the programs in half financially instead of discontinuing them. Starting April of 2020, we were providing 2 meals each day and beginning in February of 2021, we had to reduce that to 1 meal each day in order to keep the programs afloat. We have told those running the programs and those in the programs that we will continue as long as God continues to provide the means or until they no longer have a need for the assistance. Their areas are already poverty stricken and were hit hard by the distancing and curfews and are only recently making a very slow come back. One thing hindering that comeback is the higher cost of food and fuel.

Travel

October has been an awesome month for me and ministry with KPG. The first week of October had me traveling to California with three other pastors to a conference called The Thrive Conference. It was the first time I have been able to fly since the pandemic started. The conference was good, and I was able to minister to and encourage the pastors I was with along with others we met, and be encouraged by them. The highlight of the trip actually happened during our 2 1/2 hours of free time. We traveled 20 minutes to the state capital in Sacramento, where I was able to bring God’s truth and pray in the State Assembly of California for the state of California, through a very crazy set of circumstances. The video below shows me in a tent that was set up just outside the capital building for people not wanting to enter the California Assembly due to COVID, but wanting to or needing to address the State Assembly. It is very sad that as soon as I finished praying, they cut the feed and ended the session. One of the pastors checked the California State Assembly Media Archives and they did not cut out my prayer, it is on permanent record in the State archives closing out the session.

City-Wide Worship Night & Evangelism

Evangelism Training on Saturday at Immanuel

Greg Stier of Dare2Share Ministries

On Friday, Oct 29th, we had another city-wide worship night with approximately 300 people at a church building called The Encounter. There were at least 6 churches in attendance that night. The worship was led with a combined worship team from Living Light Christian Church, Acts Church (which is now One Voice Church), and Immanuel Church Kenosha. One of my friends, Greg Stier, from Dare to Share Ministries also shared an amazing talk from the scriptures and his own life on revival and evangelism during the worship night.

An Evangelism Training day was held on Saturday, Oct. 30th, in conjunction with the worship night. We trained in the morning and hit the streets of Kenosha in the afternoon to pray for people and share the good news of Jesus Christ. There were 95 adults at the training session, almost 1/3 of those who had attended the worship night. Praise God that His Good News is going out! It was awesome to have that many adults sharing their faith all at the same time.

One Voice Church

Then on Sunday, October 31st, One Voice Church (OVC) launched in Kenosha. There were 84 people in attendance! OVC is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church. One Voice was basically formed as part of a white church and part of a black church coming together for three reasons: obedience to God, the multi-ethnic church model of the Bible, and the ability to better reach our community with the Gospel. One Voice has been in the hearts of its leaders since the Lord laid it on their hearts in 2018. Tammy and I have met with our Living Light church leaders, and they have commissioned us to be part of One Voice and help them get this church plant off the ground. They see our multi-ethnic family and the maturity of our Christian walk as very helpful tools for One Voice Church as it takes off. One Voice is under the leadership of One Church Ministries who also oversees the Living Light Churches. So we will still be in the same family of churches. The name for OVC comes from Romans 15:5-6:

“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with ONE VOICE, giving praise and glory to God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

One Voice Church is a very fitting name given what they are called to do. As we were in the worship service on Sunday morning, God gave me two pictures. The first was the first star in the evening sky and the second was the spark that starts the blazing fire. In those pictures, God impressed on me that these are both beginnings. The first star is the beginning of the night and the spark the beginning of a blazing fire, just as this was the first day or the birth of One Voice. Stars are used for navigating and so One Voice will guide many in Kenosha to God’s truths and help them navigate life. Just as fires are used for warmth and comfort, so will One Voice provide comfort and safety to many in Kenosha. It was very encouraging to hear from the Lord in this way.

Prayer Request

Please continue to pray for Kenosha as the Kyle Rittenhouse trial began on November 2nd. Kyle was the 17-year-old who shot and killed two others and wounded a third during the Kenosha riots in August 2020. The trial verdict has the potential to reopen old wounds and restoke violence. It is our prayer that Peace reigns in Kenosha and that violence and hate would be overcome. This city’s only hope is Jesus.

Thank You
